Lots of sports enthusiasts reach a time in their lives when they encounter all kinds of problems regarding the muscles flexibility. There are lots of ways in which such issues can be resolved but some of the best include Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), and I was one of the lucky people who got to try this just recently. It wasn’t like anything I ever experienced, and that’s why I want to share it with you.
I used to go to the gym five times a week and work out for about three hours. I also loved biking, hiking and all kinds of other outdoor activities. But, I’m no longer in my twenties, and all this physical effort started to take its toll on my body. I didn’t know what to do because I felt that I wasn’t as flexible as before and I had all kinds of pains located in my joints, back and so on. A friend of mine asked me if I had ever tried PNF and I was honest when I said that I haven’t even heard of that. I looked it up, and I read that it is a form of stretching that makes use of isometric contraction which is a voluntary contraction in which there won’t occur any joint movement, and the muscle length stays unchanged. This is usually done before the stretch in order to be able to achieve more significant gains than the ones you are able to achieve while stretching alone. I thought that it’s definitely worth a try and I made an appointment to Kent Chiro-Med Wellness Clinic because I learned that they also perform this kind of therapy.
My first thoughts when I met him
When I first met Dr. Ghaith I was amazed by the way that we clicked and how he managed to understand my problems. He offered me a great feeling that I will be able to succeed and feel better which meant that I could finally dream about waking up in the morning pain-free and being able to achieve another personal record at the gym. During the first session, the doctor worked with me and lengthened my muscles to their maximal pain-free end of range.
I was laying on my back, and the doctor was actively lifting my legs as high as possible keeping the knees straight. My muscles were also held in a relaxed position after that, and it was essential to breathe properly during my stretches because muscles do need oxygen to function. After the first session was over, I was already feeling reenergized, and I decided that I would definitely come back for more.
Did I enjoyed my experience?
I have been visiting Dr. Ghaith, an Ottawa Chiropractor for over a month now, and I’m feeling a different person. It’s like time was turned back and I’m twenty years old again (I’m actually forty). I can work out for extended periods of time without feeling any pain during or after my exercises. I totally recommend visiting Dr. Ghaith at the Kent Chiro-Med Wellness Clinic because he’s an extraordinary physiotherapist. Other medical fields of his interest include postural rehabilitation, active lifestyle integration, and myofascial release therapy
